What is it?

New Zealand’s first networking site for travellers. Providing a forum for travellers to interact, experience and socialise. We are devoted to meeting the needs of travellers and businesses that revolve around tourism. However, not only are we limited to these, mooplace is also a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected anytime, anyplace. Anything a member adds can be shared across the network. Mooplace goes beyond providing a forum for social interaction; it offers information on travel, worldwide locations and special offers, and an all-round virtual experience. The site is co-created by its users (both travellers and businesses), and the company itself. Giving you theUsers can stay connected throughout the world through the use of blogs, forums, chat, video chat, email, etc. Share comments, ideas and suggestions across a broad range of members.

Do I need anything special to use it?

All you need to use Mooplace is an internet connection or a mobile phone. Join us here!
Once you're in, the opportunities are endless – from making discoveries, to gaining insider tips while keeping in touch with others. With all the travel videos and information available you simply won’t know where to begin!

Are there any costs involved?

No, Mooplace is absolutely free to join and there will never be charges to use this website. You can create your own profile or business page and access all site features at no cost.

How do I communicate with others?

• You can I chat direct with others - at the bottom right to your screen. When someone has a yellow light, it shows they are online and available to chat.
• You can send private messages – Just like an email.
• You can post a message on their wall
• You can create blogs amongst each other
• You can start forums that people can contribute to, possibly answer a question you have asked.
• You can broadcast something to all Mooplace members by using the Shoutbox function.
• You can make comments and recommendations throughout the entire site on locations, videos, etc.

How do I block someone?

Go to the person's page that you want to block and look on the left hand navigation links for BLOCK button. Click on the BLOCK button and approve the block. Blocking a member prohibits them from messaging you, or commenting on your page, bulletins, blogs, events, classifieds and blocks them from being able to rate your pictures or profile. However, blocking a member does NOT stop them from coming on to your page to look around.

What are tags?

Tags are single descriptive words that are then used by the system to find people or a location, etc. These words are turned into links so people can click them to find you. E.g. If adding a location in this case “Coromandel” tags for this could be “North Island”, “beaches”

What is Shout Box?

Shout box is a special feature where members can make an announcement which becomes visible to every mooplace member. Shout Box gives you the ability to shout out anything from a recommendation to a warning of some sort, etc. However, if this feature is abused it will soon be removed, don’t ruin it for everyone else.

How do I edit my profile?

Click onto “profile”, located along the top bar of your screen. Click onto the “edit” button to change any settings and information on your profile. Click on the “customize” button to modify the look of your profile, options available to change the font colour, upload new background picture, etc.

What are followers?

A follower is simply someone who receives another members updates. When you follow someone, every time they post a new message, it will appear on your home page. New messages are added to your home page as people post them, so you always get the updates from the person you are following in real time. When you log in, you can see what the latest updates are.

Will my information be kept confidential?

Your information is kept secure. We will never disclose any information to any party for whatever reason, unless of course we are legally required to do so by the appropriate authorities.

What are Travel Notices?

Let’s everyone know where you are, what you’re doing, where you’re staying, what job you’re looking for, etc. A great feature to let your family and friends know all at once what you’re up to. You can limit to who exactly is able to see your travel notice.

What’s the difference between “Travel Videos” and “Travel Tube”?

Travel videos are a selection of videos uploaded by everyone within the network, whereas Travel Tube are a selection of top rated videos, here you can also search for something via YouTube.

What are sites?

Sites are an area where companies or fans can upload links to a website; this features a picture and brief intro. A great place to look for beneficial sites in terms of travel - or just in general!

How do I change my profile picture?

Hover your mouse over the “Profile” tab along the top of your screen, a list should drop down with more options. Click on “Profile Pictures”. This will take you to a new page where you can upload a new profile picture also called an “Avatar”.

How do I only allow myself to be seen by people I am friends with?

Hover your mouse over the “Profile” tab along the top of your screen, a list should drop down with more options. Click on “privacy settings”. This will take you to a page where you can adjust your privacy settings to suit you.

What do I use the search box for?

Search box helps you efficiently find anything on the site. You can type in a location you wish to find info on or a person you wish to make contact with, etc.

How do I add a Travel Locations, Photos, Videos, Sites and contribute other things of relevance to the site?

Simply click on the “Travel Locations” tab along the top of the screen. This will take you to the locations homepage, underneath three new tabs will appear, click on “Add Locations” – here is where you can add location information, photos and videos, and other things of relevance once you’ve uploaded the location such as events, shops, restaurants, (etc.) in the location area.

How do I report abuse?

When receiving a post or message from the person you wish to report there is the option to report this, a tab will come up beneath the message reading “report spam”. Click on this button. If any further queries on abuse please contact us here.

What are the things that are not permitted or tolerated on the site?

The site does not permit any offensive videos and photos or abuse towards another member, there will be legal action taken if anyone chooses not to oblige with the rules we have set. We want to maintain a happy and safe environment for all!
